Latest Defra TB figures released

The latest monthly TB statistics have been released by Defra. The figures, which cover the 12 months to the end of January 2016, show:

  • The number of new herd incidents in England in the 12 months to the end of January 2016 was 3,967, compared to 3,757 for the 12 months to the end of January 2015.
  • The number of cattle compulsorily slaughtered in England during the period was 28,025 compared to 26,453 for the same period to the end of January 2015.
  • The number of herds in England not officially TB free at the end of the period due to a bTB incident was 3,236, compared to 3,042 during the corresponding period to the end of January 2015.
